Throughout the nineties, American Short Fiction was a fixture in the top tier of literary journals: two-time finalist for the National Magazine Award in Fiction, plus stories landed in the O. Henry anthologies, Best American Short Stories, the Graywolf Annual, and the Pushcart anthologies. Then in 1998, they shuffled off this overheated coil, bound for litmag heaven, where the espressos are all bottomless, the cigarettes never burn holes in your clothes, and everyone gathers at noon to sing hosannas to George Plimpton.

Or so we thought.

Turns out that instead they'd been acquired by Badgerdog Literary Publishing, and were planning to resume publication with Issue 33 in Winter 2005-06.

Which is reason enough to celebrate.

And now the gravy: I just got an email saying they are taking a story of mine for that self-same issue.

Praise be to George P.!

Greensbory Review's Issue 79 is now out, with a story of mine called "Bloodwood," plus some awesome stuff by Viet Dinh and David Ebenbach.
